G’day from the CactusMen/ The Functional Doctors team!
We've been hard at work behind the scenes to improve our services and make them more accessible for you. As you hopefully know at this point, we're transitioning from The Functional Doctors to CactusMen in the coming weeks (final date still TBD!), and with this change comes a new pricing model designed to simplify and reduce your healthcare costs.
In today’s blog, we’ll provide a detailed breakdown of the cost changes you can expect as part of CactusMen, and how these will compare to what you’ve experienced with The Functional Doctors (TFD).
Please note that these prices are estimates and may vary depending on your specific treatment needs. This advice is general and should not replace specific medical guidance tailored to individual cases.
Overview: Old vs New Pricing
*assumes patient is receiving a single treatment plan
1. Blood Testing: Streamlined and Cost-Effective
Current Approach with TFD:
Under TFD, blood testing has typically been conducted through third-party providers, with testing intervals roughly every three months. We’ve received the feedback that patients have found the invoicing to be a bit confusing, and the costs (which can range between $800 to $1000 per year) to be high. While this model has served many, it has presented challenges in terms of cost, consistency, and convenience.
Changes with CactusMen:
We’re launching a direct agreement with iMedical. This should lead to:
Lower Costs: By partnering directly with iMedical, we've significantly reduced the cost per test and we will never try to “profit” from this - our aim is to keep the costs as low as possible whilst getting you the tests you need
Simple, upfront payment & admin: Payments can now be made directly via credit card, so you’ll know the exact costs upfront.
Access to more Clinics: We've expanded the number of available clinics, making it easier for you to access testing, particularly if you're in a rural area.
Acceptance of Third-Party Test Results:
Through CactusMen, we will accept suitable blood test results from other third party providers, assuming they meet quality criteria (don't worry, this will all be shared when it’s time for your bloods). This means if you can find a more affordable testing option, you are welcome to use it, potentially reducing your costs further.
Tailored Testing:
We’ve refined our approach to testing. Patients will now receive different testing depending on their stage of treatment, ensuring a more tailored approach and reduced costs on additional testing.
2. Treatment Plans: Consistent and Convenient
Current Approach with TFD:
Ordering treatments has sometimes led to issues with inconsistencies, costs, and logistics for our patients. Prices have ranged from $700 to $1400, depending on many factors.
Changes with CactusMen:
Purchase treatment directly through the Cactus Health Hub
Patients will be able to order treatment directly through CactusMen, ensuring consistency in costs and a more straightforward user experience
Educational support:
We are developing more educational content to help you administer your treatment effectively. This can enable patients to transition to more cost-effective plans, depending on individual treatment needs (this will depend on doctor advice on a case-by-case basis).
Ensuring continuity of treatment:
With medications now being available directly through our patient hub, we’ll be able to notify you in advance when it’s time to order repeat treatments to make sure everything is on track & on time.
3. Consultations: Included and Flexible
Current Approach with TFD:
Currently, consultations are charged at $300 per session, typically every three months, leading to a total of $900 to $1200 annually.
Changes with CactusMen:
Subscription Model:
We’re moving to an annual subscription plan at $800, or $75 per month if you prefer monthly payments. This includes all of your consultations.
This model allows you to stay connected to your clinical team without the fear of additional costs. If you need assistance between scheduled appointments, you can connect with our nursing team, and any necessary escalations to a GP are also included (this will be determined in conjunction with our nursing team).
Flexibility in Payment:
We’ve listened to your feedback and are offering flexibility in how you pay for consultations to suit your preferences and financial situations (annual and monthly options).
In Summary: CactusMen Is Built for You
We're in this together for the long term, and our goal is to support your healthcare journey as effectively and affordably as possible. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out. Your input helps us make CactusMen the best it can be.
Thank you for your continued trust and support!
